The Die Casting Material Handler is responsible for managing and transporting materials to and from die-casting machines, ensuring that materials are properly stored and handled in a safe and efficient manner. This role supports the production team by ensuring that the necessary raw materials (e.g., metal alloys, dies) are readily available and by maintaining organized material storage areas. Key Responsibilities: • Material Management: o Transport raw materials such as metal alloys, sand, lubricants, and other supplies to the die-casting area. o Ensure that materials are properly stored and easily accessible for production. o Track material usage and ensure the right quantity is available for each production run. • Inventory Control: o Monitor and maintain inventory levels of materials, such as metals, alloys, and other consumables. o Assist in the regular inventory count and help ensure materials are ordered on time. o Maintain accurate records of material usage, deliveries, and stock levels. • Loading & Unloading: o Load and unload materials and finished products from trucks and delivery vehicles. o Move and position large or heavy materials using appropriate tools and machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes. • Delivery to Production Areas: o Deliver materials and supplies to die-casting machines and workstations in a timely manner to avoid production delays. o Ensure that materials are organized by type, size, or specification for easy retrieval during production. • Waste Management: o Remove scrap metal or waste materials from the production area and properly dispose of them according to safety and environmental guidelines. o Assist in recycling materials, ensuring minimal waste. • Equipment Maintenance: o Maintain and perform basic inspections on material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and cranes to ensure they are in safe working order. o Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor. • Safety & Compliance: o Follow all safety procedures and protocols while handling materials and operating equipment. o Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and free from hazards that could impact safety or production efficiency. o Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. • Collaboration with Team Members: o Work closely with production supervisors, machine operators, and other personnel to ensure material flow aligns with production needs. o Communicate material requirements, inventory levels, and potential shortages to the appropriate team members or management. Qualifications: • Education: o High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in material handling, safety, or equipment operation is a plus. • Experience: o Previous experience in material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing settings, preferably in a die-casting or metalworking environment. o Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment is highly preferred. • Skills & Abilities: o Basic knowledge of die-casting processes and materials. o Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. o Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. o Good communication skills to coordinate with the production team and management. Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more, depending on the material). • Comfortable standing, walking, and bending for extended periods. • Ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, safely and efficiently. • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent physical activity. Working Conditions: • Work is typically performed in a factory or manufacturing environment. • Exposure to high temperatures, noise, and heavy machinery is common. • Shifts may vary, and overtime may be required to meet production demands. • Some travel between workstations, warehouses, and storage areas may be necessary.
